All systems go!

Ian Tighe

Ian Tighe MBCS, MIDPM is Executive Trust Board Director, Technology at the London Ambulance Service. He took up the appointment in January 1994 after the failure of the computer system had resulted in headline news reports around the world amid calls for a radical new approach to the challenges inherent in such a service

Few will not recall the computer system failure/collapse at the London Ambulance Service in 1992 which received worldwide media attention. I thought it appropriate to update the BCS on where the Service is now, particularly after the Society lobbied hard to see a suitable professional appointed to pick up the pieces. I also think that many BCS members will have seen the image of the systems professional tarnished by the events of 1992 and some feedback through the BCS may be useful
