BPR and OO: origins and common ground

This paper presents an analysis of two significant phenomena: business process re-engineering (BPR) and object orientation (OO). Each can be viewed as a modern day panacea for managers and IT specialists, respectively. We suggest a convergence which may help to address two major criticisms; of BPR that the reliance on often inflexible IT is dangerous; of OO that the approach helps programmers but doesn't ‘scale up’ to address real business problems by providing business objects to support business processes
