A new term for a new age?

Computer expert. Boffin. IT specialist. Different names for perhaps a similar type of person. Two other terms are frequently used, often derogatively, these being geek or nerd. Some have embraced these labels while the majority are embarrassed by the association. The dictionary defines both in stark terms.
